Siblings- Making mommy time for them all

(Above photo taken with my lil' [outdated] cell phone)

You know its hard to be the first child, who up until their sibling was born, did not have to share the limelight (his parent's time and attention) with any other. So, I really try hard to make time throughout the day to help our eldest son feel like he hasn't lost his mommy time/love. In doing that, I believe it makes this transition easier on him and there is less of an opportunity for animosity towards his new brother...at least for now, but hey, we'll take things one day at a time right.

Yesterday, I was feeding our newest addition and our eldest sheepishly walked up to show me he had made a pen mark on his thumb (on purpose). I could have taken the pen away from him and said, as I often do about writing utensils, with eyebrows raised & in a sing song voice, "paper only". But seeing an opportunity to make our son feel special, I decided to 'break the rules' and draw on both his hands. It truly made his day! We had to take pictures to show off the mommy art...

Such a ham!
